Mounjaro vs Ozempic.

Mounjaro contains tirzepatide. Ozempic contains semaglutide. Both are once-weekly injectable medications, but they work through different receptor patterns and have different labelled uses.

Mechanism

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. Tirzepatide activates both GIP and GLP-1 receptors. A clinician weighs that difference against tolerability, contraindications, medical history, and goals.

Cost through Wexi

Mounjaro plans currently start at $339.99/month. Ozempic plans are currently $124.99/month. Prices can change.

Review triggers

Insulin use, sulfonylurea use, severe kidney or liver disease, pancreatitis history, gallbladder disease, psychiatric hospitalization history, heavy alcohol use, and very high BMI may require closer physician review.
